    PRODUCT CARING

Storing your jewellery
Jewellery ought to be kept separately in soft boxes or in small bags of soft velvet. If you use a jewellery box, take care that each piece of jewellery is kept in a separate compartment, otherwise it may be scratched and damaged.

  Cleaning your jewellery
It is true that jewellery which is used daily ought to be cleaned once a week. Jewellery with hard gems such as diamonds that are not affected by chemicals should be cleaned with a solution of 50 percent lukewarm water and 50 percent ammonia water.
The jewellery should be soaked in this solution for half an hour and then rinsed in clear water and dried with a soft anti-static cloth. Jewellery with porous stones should only be cleaned with a moist cloth.

  Care of diamond jewellery
Diamonds are one of the hardest known substances; however diamonds can scratch other diamonds. It is therefore important to avoid that diamonds come in direct contact with each other - e.g. in a jewellery box or when two or more diamond rings are worn at the same time.
Although diamonds are a very durable stone they are not indestructible. A sharp blow in the wrong direction may cause it to cleave or chip. Diamond jewellery therefore should not be worn when engaged in heavy manual labour.

Cleaning diamond jewellery
Diamonds have a strong affinity for grease and oils, and the effect of dirt on a diamond's overall appearance can be dramatic. To ensure it's most optimal brilliance, diamond jewellery should be cleaned regularly. The safest method for cleaning diamond jewellery is a soft toothbrush and warm soapy water followed by a good rinsing in hot water.

  Professional maintenance of diamond jewellery
Every second year a piece of diamond jewellery should be checked for wear or damage by a professional jeweller to ensure that the diamonds are safely set. If a ring suddenly starts to catch on clothes this could be due to a defective setting and it should be brought to the attention of a professional jeweller immediately.
